Marketplace, September 2002, MAGIC Magazine
by Michael Close

It is rare for a multi-volumed set of magic books to appear in the marketplace. Off hand, I can only think of three: The Books of Wonder, the three-volume Paul Harris Art of Astonishment series, and the two-volume (three if you count the Index) James File. (I had originally included the Elmsley books in this list, but the two volumes of that series were published three years apart.) The Harris and James books were career retrospectives. The Wonder books contained new essays, but many of the magic tricks had appeared in print before. We now have before us two very large books of tricks from David Regal. The prospective purchaser will probably ask, "Have these books been padded to fill out almost 480 pages?" The answer is no. The material in Constant Fooling Volumes 1&2 is of a uniformly high quality, and varied enough to appeal to both the hobbyist and the professional. Literally, there is something for everyone.
